For a few weeks now I have been contemplating a separate, dedicated blog to futebol/footballing only, primarily for my footballing friends that follow my regular public blog. I do not intend this possible blog to become an overwhelming workload of maintenance or responding. Those of you who know of and understand my present situation—as a full-time/overtime Caretaker of my Mom with severe Stage 7 Dementia and Early-Alzheimer’s—I simply cannot spend tons of time on another additional blog; I can barely manage this one and not at all my private blog.
Hence, I am hoping that this possible Footballing/Futebolling blog is merely an opportunity for myself and my WordPress sporting friends/followers around the world, e.g. South Africa, England, Wales, Australia/New Zealand, Brasil, etc., and infrequently the USA, to sometimes discuss, vent, or celebrateβ¦ mmm, yesβ¦ “The Beautiful Game” from all of the world’s top leagues, European and South American tournaments, transfers, up and coming “Wonder Kids,” and World Cup qualifying as well as THE quadrennial World Cup, and anything and/or everything football, or futebol, or soccer depending on your vernacular, including past/present great players, tactics, training, and specific individual and team skills. Also, the top managers of the game; so basically anything related to the world’s most popular sport. Hands down.
Therefore, I present to my WordPress footballing buddies, what do you think about this idea? Be boldly honest please, I need to know what to expect and whether or not I can/could keep up reasonably well. Tell me your thoughts and feelings.

Good luck, PT. It is going to require more time and energy than you think..

Well, as you are an Arsenal supporter I can’t imagine you would have that much to blog about.
But I’m game if you are.
We could always talk about good teams I suppose?

π Hah! As long as you wouldn’t hold it against me too often—my loyalty to my Gunners and to FC Barcelona— and I would have a tiny microscopic smidge for Liverpool & Klopp. Then “This might be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.” π

What a wunch of bankers.
Liverpool should be awarded Diaz goal and the points adjusted.

Another thing..
If a team can have points deducted for cheating ( think Juventus) then surely the FA can award Liverpool the goal and the point?
Emily said the FA have the power to insist the game be replayed.
Because if the FA do nothing and just skulk off with their tails between their legs and it comes down to the wire at the end of the season there will be hell to pay.

It seems everyone’s “warnings” about how much of a workload this would become… isn’t/wasn’t because of visitors, commenters, followers, but instead working with, learning WordPress shit. π¦

I am not a sports aficionado, and you could fit what I know or like about football into a small thimble, so it’s of no interest to me. Except that … knowing your circumstances and how much you put into The Professor’s Convatorium, I have to agree with rawgod on this one … I think you might be biting off more than you realize. That said, if football and talking about it, sharing views about it, brings you pleasure, then perhaps it would be worth a bit of extra work … you need something fun in your life, Prof!

Awww, Jill… you are very astute in your observations of my current situation and emotional, physical, and mental health. THANK YOU a hundred times for your feedback! π₯°
Yes, you are spot-on with the pleasure, joy, and excitement football, soccer brings to me—it is a deep-seeded passion for sure. And yes, you are right again that maybe doing this brings me a VERY nice, refreshing break/diversion from my Mom’s declining health and progressing Dementia/Early-Alzheimer’s… AND the fact that where she/we live is devoid, barren of The World’s Most Beautiful Game. I mean, after all, I only have Arkysatan, Brian (Butterflies to Dragsters), Roger (DeterminedDespiteWP), and John Zande (SuperstitiousNakedApe) to talk about my beloved sport—and Arkysatan is as you well know, a VERY poor choice in footballing mate cuz he’s a Reds fanatic or Liverpool guy and I am an Arsenal Gunner! I mean, WHAT GOOD could come from that? π

Playing Spurs this weekend.
I have a standing arrangement of nearly 30 years with my friend, and former work colleague, Harry who now lives in Paphos, Cyprus. He is a life long Tottenham supporter and he’ll be on the phone demanding his six pack of beers if Spurs win!
However, I reckon I have enough beers ‘in the bank” to cover any slip up from the Pool;
A few seasons ago I sent him a message ‘demanding’ my beers a couple of days after Liverpool beat Spurs.
I heard nothing for about a week then I get this text that tells me to check outside my front door!
The sneaky bar steward had popped back to SA for the wedding of the daughter of one of his old clients.
And there he was… my beers and all!

Wow! Despite being a Hotty-spur, at least he pays his debts, eh? Not bad!
So will this be the case (not of beer!) when our Gunners and Reds play, home and away? Should I start stocking up on brewskies? π

Make them help you … make them be partners and do part of the posting and answering of comments, that way it shouldn’t be too much of a burden on you, and you can still have some fun with it!

Yes last season was abysmal, Smith got the sack (hooray) we appointed David Wagner who’s style is like the long lost Farke, started well ended bad. Then this season we got off to a flyer and now the wheels have come off (again). Last Saturday we got stuffed 6-2 away at Plymouth!

Hi there PT, made it within the 24 hr time…..I think…..
From my own limited experience with caring( and that was at long distance), it is a hard call on your time.
That said, everyone in such circumstances needs a diversion and since you are obviously a great lover of soccer I’d say go ahead with it, for whenever the opportunity arises. The folk ‘hereabouts’ will understand that this is not going to be a daily long read.
All sports fans share one capacity. The ability to make a paragraph response out of a one sentence post and enjoy every word of it (even if it is a lament about the state of their favourites).
I’d say….Go ahead.
1. AS you can
2. When you can
3. As best you can
But don’t push yourself.
Signing off…. One of an Aston Villa couple….. in a state shock at our team being in the top 5 of the UK Premier League (we know they’ll ‘bottle it’ at some stage this seasonπ!)

I was thinking of you Roger as I watched your Villa boys HAMMER Brighton! π² My GOODNESS did Ollie Watkins have a day, huh? π
Thank you for the excellent feedback and suggestions for me personally. I believe you are spot on. So I am now leaning toward doing this, for one big reason… given my living circumstances, I think it would be a much needed joy for me. π

An insight in Villa fans of many years, and a common one.
When Brighton scored their goal we both groaned and said ‘Villa are going to bottle it’. When I told my wife Sheila they’d won 6-1 she had me repeat the news twice and still had to read the match report.
My own response was ‘Gather those points while you can lads; you’ll need them later in the season when it all goes wrong,’
Villa have this knack of either raising long suffering fans’ expectations and then failing to turn up on the day – like their last two FA Cup finals.
OR…
Snatching Defeat from the jaws of Victory
Anyway……
I’m glad that suggestion was useful to you PT. We all need them at various times in Life. The question is finding the right one, and sticking with it; with an option to change to another; Life being all flux anyhow.
Best wishes with your project π I’ll be following – though probably later than everyone else π

About your idea: I don’t follow Brazil football too closely. Teams no-longer remain teams here for more than a season, and I just can’t keep interested in it. The association treats club football here like a catalogue for overseas buyers.

This is quite true John Z. My collegiate head coach later became a FIFA scout/agent for MANY Brasilian futebollers wanting to go ply their trade in Europe, America/USA, or other Mediterranean nations and it was quite lucrative for him—because most ALL Brasilian elite-to-great 16-18 yr olds want to move to where the big money is in 1) Europe, or 2) N. America, to escape the poverty-restrictions of S. America. I’m sure you know what I mean.

That’s exactly it. Club football here has become a bidding pen. It’s impossible for unified teams to be built.
