Yep. My musical tastes began to go very specific, a bit narrow in 1976-77 after a soccer buddy of mine introduced me to Rush, and even better… Neil Peart. That’s when I began venturing away from mainstream music—played repeatedly over all radio dials and frequencies—then soon discovered the genres of hard rock, metal, followed by punk-rock, industrial, synthpop/futurepop, and EBM/trance. 😄 This was all due to football/soccer taking me around the world, mostly Europe, and I was being exposed to all those new genres—yep, and believe it or not I first discovered Howard Jones while playing in the Netherlands and Belgium in 1980, if that tells ya anything:
As they sometimes innocently but arrogantly proclaim here in Texas in comical irony… “Texas is like a whole ‘nother country.” Man, I can’t tell ya just how true that is on SO MANY levels! 🙄 Anyway, what Mark Twain once penned:
Twain’s words could not be MORE profoundly true than the Sun rises in the east and sets in the west, right? 😉

Don’t tell me, Brian, you are/were a Mud/Slade fan?

Early 70’s I was well into Bowie, Ziggy Stardust/Aladdin Sane era, lost interest when he went ‘disco’. Also Cockney Rebel (Steve Harley) but long term favourites were Hawkwind who I’ve seen live more than any other band.
Later on it was metal and punk that floated my boat, still does.

Memories of lying on the floor in a darkened room of an old girlfriend listening to Sonic Attack.
I had Silver Machine as a single.
Never saw them live.

Brilliant track ‘Sonic Attack’ scared the crap out of my daughter when she was little…. er, not on purpose, I thought she might like it, honest.
They never liked playing Silver Machine live, think I only heard it a couple of times.

My late brother, Kevin, had an autographed paper plate from Johnny Rotten (Sex Pistols) which he signed just before they took to the stage at a small local club. This was a few weeks/months? before the group released their first single.
Unfortunately he threw the plate away because: ” … they kept spitting on us!”

And yes I know this is a 70’s list but Jimi passed in 1970.

Yeah, you are spot-on about his death Ark. I’ll give ya that Sir. 😉
Honestly, I would’ve loved including Jimi in my list, but my all-time 3-4 favorites of his are all, every single one of them, in 1967. Grrrrr, I couldn’t—in sketchy good conscience that I have—fudge THAT much time in my ’70s playlist. I already fudged a couple of ’69s and ’68s I believe. 😄
Let me ponder a bit whether I’ll slide in ONE Hendrix for ya. 🤔
Btw, what’s it worth to ya? 😎
