Rise

I’ve been spending 6-10 hours a day studying, reading, studying more, taking practice tests, reading, then studying more for the last five or six weeks minimum!  I am really really fidgety and want to get up, Rise and let my “responsible” side give way to my primal pinned-up dancing side.  So I spin the volume-knob clockwise…move…and jump, and bounce away in the rhythms.  Care to join me?

  1. Professor,
    Both groups/songs had a good beat that was easy to dance to. Remind you of American Bandstand? Velvetine may be a little closer to a breakthrough where they become true artists. These are bands I’ve never heard of. My guess is that all the members are young, like in their mid twenties. Way to go with the long hours of study!

    • Glad you dug them as well. I particularly like the ‘build-ups’ in both songs…then finally release.

      leading up to 2:28 then ALL instruments at 2:29 in Phoenix from the Flames, and…
      2:45 and beyond in The Great Divide.

      • Yes, I can feel his presence deeply. His death certificate showed up yesterday. Under “other significant conditions contributing to death” it said “extraordinary life lived”

  5. Both songs had my body moving. Felt like I went back in time to clubs from back in the day. Something about being wild and careless and free…well, as careless and wild as a control freak like me will allow…Ha!

  6. Great songs with excellent lyrics. What else can get us through life? Music takes us “across the great divide” (whatever that may be for each of us individually)! Good luck with your studies!
