Keeping my pledge to spread the wonderful world of Steampunk, I have stumbled upon the writer Olivia M. Grey and artist/entertainer Professor Elemental. Olivia Grey is an accomplished author of dark paranormal romance with a Steampunk flair — a woman after my own twisted heart and mind! If a Neo-Victorian sci-fi romance piques your dark side, then her blog and books are worth your time. From her WordPress Bio:

She dons a tight corset, a fluffy bustle, and a teeny-tiny top hat for fantasy conventions where she enjoys meeting fans and participating on panels. Professor Elemental may not need much of an introduction to Steamers, but to the common mainstream out there, hold on to your knickers and spectacles you are about to be highly entertained! Elemental is the type of chap that invokes the gag-reflex of “proper” British society — ahh, another Steamer after my heart! Oh this is a wonderful discovery – I just spent some time at the Wikipedia entry for Steampunk and it is truly a wonderful daytrip if not everyone’s “cup of tea” (glorious VIctorian hat being tipped here to Professor Elemental and the concept of Chap Hop!) Oh, the steampunk world of fashion, too! I had no idea, and thank you so much for this “travel brochure”…
It is as if the 19th century, especially Victorian England, had simply continued to evolve along its own historical stream of consciousness, breaking away from the train tracks of a dying western History and veering off into its own Future! A triumphant escape of the human spirit from the non-human mechanization of the industrial age, escape from the cultural dead-end lying around the bend.
I am not a gamer, but keep an eye on these things, along with magick and science fantasy – I am sure this is the appeal of the Harry Potter series..Of course the dwarves and elves of World of Warcraft would have a much more advanced civilization based upon a technology which kept its roots in living beings And one can see the “frankensteinian” motif buried here too….the inevitable “Shadow” creeping in!
